When I was growing up, my dad always visited the nursing home. Sometimes I would go with him, and I remember thinking that I hope my kids would never put me in one of those places.
I smelled bad smells, and saw the look on people’s faces like they were crying out for help without saying a word. Now fast forward some 30 years and I am the Chaplain at Signature Healthcare of Pikeville, and my view of nursing homes has changed drastically.
I get the privilege of seeing the love that all the stakeholders have for the residents, and I get the privilege of working for a “Nursing Home” that puts the residents first. Whatever they want to do, if it’s possible, they do. Whatever they want to eat, if it’s possible, they eat. And we make sure that very few things are impossible.
So with that said, I am so thankful God put me right here to spread His love and His word with this wonderful group of people. Til next time, God bless you all!
